Web 2.0 Learning Opportunities

The Technical Centre for agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA), in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture (FOA), University of Mauritius, and the Food and Agricultural Council (FARC) is holding two training workshops, from 9 to 13 July and 23 to 27 July 2012 on the use of Web 2.0 tools in the Agricultural and allied sectors. The aim of the workshop is to help stakeholders better manage information, improve its dissemination and enhance collaboration among institutions. The workshop was launched by Dr. The Hon. Rajeshwar Jeetah, Minister of Tertiary Education, Science, Research and Technology on Monday 9 July in the R Burrenchobay Lecture Theatre at UoM.

Representatives from the Agricultural Research and Extension Unit (AREU), the Mauritius Sugar Industry Research Institute, the Ministry of Agro-Industry and Food Security, Agricultural and Marketing Board, Irrigation Authority and other institutions in the Agricultural sector are participating in this workshop.

They will get a chance to see what others have done, get hands-on experience on how to use innovative applications, and assess how they could adopt these innovations within the context of their work and organisation. These Learning Opportunities form part of the CTA initiative that support development partners in networking, accessing and disseminating information more effectively in the field of agriculture.
